Lungs
Carbon dioxide is in our body. It is released by the lungs when we exhale. CO2 is all over our bodies. The reason is that it helps us to breathe. During the process of internal respiration, oxygen is carried to body tissues, and then carbon dioxide is taken out of the body tissues. Another big function of carbon dioxide in our bodies is that it is around our blood protecting the PH of the blood.
Atmosphere
CO2 is one of the most common gas in the Earth's atmosphere. It is obtained by the distillation of air, or fractional distillation. This process is done by heating up a mixture until it boils. Compounds have different boiling temperatures so when the desired compound boils, it is released into a gas in which one could catch in a more clean container for the pure compound.
